Lately I’ve come across younger artists wanting tablets but not being able to afford them, or get their parents to buy them. Which is totally understandable. My first tablet was a Wacom Bamboo and it was a lot for my parents at the time. Luckily, there’s more options now a days. So here’s a few good tablets that are affordable to start out with. Some of these aren’t Wacom and maybe aren’t as fancy as Wacom, but they will work just as fine.
Slighty bigger than the first tablet there, but at about $3 more. Again, another small tablet for beginners you might want if you just want to have a tablet or are testing out digital art.
Now I think this one is slightly bigger than an Intuos Pro (Small) at 13 x 9 inches, and it is NOT under $70, but it is way under what you can get from Wacom at $70. I actually have this same tablet, the Intuos Draw which I got a while ago, and yes it works perfectly fine. But it was also $70+ and had I known that this alternative existed, I would’ve switched a while ago to a bigger tablet.
Cintiq Alternatives
Everyone knows Cintiqs cost QUIIITE a lot starting at like $2,000. They’re pretty expensive, and it may take a while for you to save up for them. Me personally, I don’t think I’ll be able to get one until I’m more financially stable so.
Still, here are some great alternatives. There’s probably been a lot of reviews as of lately put up, and some I notice are probably sponsored LOL Buut that doesn’t mean that the tablet is always bad.
This tablet is currently at $660 on Amazon - and although it has some minor issues such as the wires at the back and the pen not feeling like a Wacom, it still draws and does its job. At $600 or so, it’s a great deal. The Wacom Cintiq 13 HD is at $700 with the 16 inch being $1,000+, but with the Huion you’re getting 21 inches for $600.
Slightly smaller tablet coming at $400, a little cheaper than $600 and still at a good size.
Wacom for me works fine, some people disagree and think it’s going down hill and starting to charge more for products that don’t always work. Either way, whatever your preference, these are just tablets currently on the market that aren’t as fancy but work just as fine.
Besides, when it comes to drawing, I don’t think the fanciness of the tablet makes you any better of an artist. Some people are still out there drawing with their old old Wacom Bamboo Fun (mine broke down years ago) and they draw wonderfully so yup
