a sketchbook is not:
- your portfolio
- only containing finished drawings
- Something you must show to other artists
- only a expensive moleskin
a sketchbook is usually:
- for sketches and doodles
- for practising and brainstorming
- unfinished stuff or crudely drawn stuff
Like most pages in my current sketchbook have lots of blank space and unfinished stuff.
Like maybe 3-4 pages in my sketchbook look like this:
But like a major part of the pages often end up like these:
how and what you use your sketchbook for is your own decision.
#your sketchbook should be your safe haven #your sketchbook should be where you feel the most free to put down any thought you like #without worrying about perfection or opinions #it should not be an obligation #to yourself or other people #it shouldn’t be something that makes you feel pressure #or badly about yourself #or your work #use your sketchbooks in the way you feel most comfortable #and not in the way that you think you’re supposed to #as an additional point #most of my sketchbook pages have doodles falling all over each other #and getting in each others way #its a mess #but its my mess #and i like to figure out my art that way #not filling up your pages? #totally okay #overfilling your pages? #totally okay!
