I saw the very first There She Is!! when I was very, very little. Internet was still new and my brother and I watched it together when we were allowed thirty minutes of internet time each. Years later, in middle school, I rediscovered it—only to find that there were now three episodes, and the fourth was very near to releasing. It was the cutest thing ever!
Until the Fourth Step came out and shattered my heart. ((HEH…))
This series of short films is extremely inspiring and touching, and even though I haven’t watched this is Alasvaster knows how long, I find myself humming their tunes quite often. And now that I’m older, I can see a much, much deeper meaning to all this.
It’s not just a cute story about a rabbit and a cat. It’s the human condition, and what we can do to right the wrongs.

a freshman year enlightenment of mine
I go to an all girls school
A list of what else to expect at a girl’s school:
- girls changing wherever because being ladylike isn’t a thing when everyone’s a lady
- girls who literally couldn’t give less of a shit about their appearance
- freshmen who care too much about their appearance (watch them turn into seniors who stopped giving a shit)
- uniform violations for the silliest things—colored shirt under your uniform instead of a white one, wrong shoes, patterned head band, wrong color socks
- seniors with skirts SO FUCKING SHORT not because of some tired stereotype but because who the fuck wants to buy another skirt when you bought two or three in freshman year when you were like 13
- actually by senior year all your uniform pieces are falling apart. even your socks
- boys from your brother school trying to get with you except they haven’t realized that 1) they’re gross testosterone lumps and 2) lesbians are a thing
- that one girl who always wears the optional pants and is absent on days when the skirt is required
- ALL THE POPULAR GIRLS ARE LESBIANS
GROSS TESTOSTERONE LUMPS
also:
- everyone’s obsessed with food and always sneaks out to the local starbucks/corner store
- everyone cusses
- hugging allll the time
- there’s always little groups of people singing???
- bathrooms are extremely neat

- twerking in the changing rooms

- body hair shaving does not happen on any sort of regular basis, indeed informal competitions about leg hair length and conversations about the possibility of braiding arm pit hair happen
- It really does not matter how much you hate someone, you will take their side against the nuns.
- Sister Mary Principal, Sister Mary Vice-Principal, Sister Mary Library…
- Girls giving each other stuff for Valentine’s Day isn’t a lesbian only thing. Candy and cards for the BFFs is totally cool.
- Messing with the male teachers is a sport
Just a few more to add:
- lesbian couples who are super open about their relationship
- people are almost always giving compliments to each other and making you feel good about yourself
- more often than not these compliments are about how nice your butt looks or your boobs look
- someone is literally always carrying advil or midol and is willing to share because the school nurse sucks
- any time there is a relatively young guy in the school everybody freaks out
- at least half of the female teachers are or were radical feminists
