What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless
FOOD
- Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
- grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
- different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
- some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit
SHELTER
- Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
- sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
- Some churches offer short term residence
- Find your nearest homeless shelter
- Look for places that are open to the public
- A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry
HYGIENE
- A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
- Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
- Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
- Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
- Local beaches, go for a quick swim
- Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
- Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
- Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket
OTHER
- first aid kit
- sunscreen
- a travel alarm clock or watch
- mylar emergency blanket
- a backpack is a must
- downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards

I recently started doing “Zombies, Run!” and my god does it motivate you! Nothing makes you run faster quite like hearing the moans of the living dead gradually getting closer. I’ve run some of my fastest 5k times EVER.

A preview of the piece that I did for the SPIRIT OF THE WIND 2015: A Studio Ghibli Tribute Show curated by 3tArts! (The same team who put together MOON CRISIS last year which was named one of OC weekly’s top ten 2014 shows!)
The opening for the show is Saturday, August 8 at 6:00pm at the Rothick Art Haus in Anaheim, California! (Hoping I’ll be able to go, but still not sure yet!) –I will also be selling a limited number of signed and unsigned prints of this online, of which more info will come soon, so stay tuned!
Including a new full shot of my piece as the opening is this is this Saturday! I will be making an announcement about prints once all the details are worked out, so check out my Twitter for updates regarding those. I’m hoping to go at some point during opening night to check out all of the pieces, so hopefully see you there!

So let me tell you about a cartoon
It has a chubby kid as a main character. His father doesn’t really fully understand him but usually has his best interests at heart. The dad plays guitar and relishes the glory days of his past a lot and sometimes washes cars.
The kid is into video games and snacks and music. You know, normal kid stuff. But he also wants to prove himself and really unlock his potential.
Also featured is a strong stoic type who a lot of the other characters rely on. A strange, sloppy character with gross habits and a tragic past. A very paranoid character who is very into conspiracy theories and gets in the way a couple times throughout the series.
Eventually a family moves to town, and our main character meets Connie. A smart and capable girl whose family moves around a lot. They quickly become best friends and maybe even romantic interests, despite Connie’s strict parents who while tolerating the main character’s family and associated parties, kind of distrust them for a while.
But yeah it’s called–what? You’ve heard of it? Huh? No. It’s not that. I’m talking about…
