The main cast, recolored to match their original design ideas by Faust. As shown by this graph, they were originally going to be based off ponies from G1. Surprise, Firefly, Sparkler, Twilight, Applejack would remain the same, and Posey. However, copyright issues with Hasbro wouldn’t allow this. So some names/designs from G3 were used to morph them into the G4 ponies we know and love.
