DO YOU EVER WONDER WHY YOU HAVE SUCH A STRONG URGE TO SQUEEZE THINGS BECAUSE THEY’RE CUTE

there was an article about it and it said there is nothing to satisfy how you feel about the thing being so cute so the natural human urge is to kill it so it will stop being cute

Such a wild thing to observe: SKorea has developed so rapidly that our language has become riddled with foreign loanwords that our Northern counterpart can no longer understand - even if we speak the same language.

Excited to see technology being used as a powerful medium to better bridge the growing 70-year gap of our now two distinct cultures.

[captions]

Narrator: “27,000 North Korean defectors living in South Korea.”

[Students introduce themselves in Korean]

Narrator: “What is it called?”

[Students name objects in Korean]

Narrator: “Through 70 years of separation, languages of the two Koreas have grown apart. Would you mark any unfamiliar words? North Korean defector students could understand less than 50% of the terms in the textbooks. This led to them being neglected from regular education, and that led to disparity in employment and income. Even Google Translator could not solve the discrepancies in the language. So then we came to create our own translator. South Korean-North Korean translator. We designed it so that a simple scan of an unfamiliar South Korean word with a smartphone would translate it into North Korean. Translating several words all at once is also possible. It was hoped that with this app, the North Korean defectors would be able to get proper education. We of course plan to continue to help them adjust well to life in South Korea. Koreans were shocked, saddened, but motivated after seeing the translator for what had been the same language.”

[Dr. Huttman speaking German]

Narrator: “Nobody knows when the two Koreas will be reunified, but if the two Koreas are able to communicate without barriers through this translator, perhaps that day would come just a little sooner.”

Yaaasss! So important to continue working toward reunification

I’m currently making this post from my phone, because my laptop is continuously blue screening and restarting itself.

There is a virus going around Skype, taking the form of a video message from a contact and linking you to an official-looking page with a link to download.

If you see this, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT. It is a virus that is incredibly difficult to remove, and when the virus is present, ads that interfere with loading websites will appear and warp your view of said websites. The windows will say ‘ads by doc’ underneath and are incredibly annoying and persistant. But that’s not the worst part.

Not only have I been sitting here for hours with multiple programs trying to remove this virus, but now, after the offending object count was 0 and I thought the virus was clear, an error called UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP triggers and blue screens my laptop, forcing it to restart. The only way I can get past the desktop screen is if I boot it up in safe mode.

Stay Safe.

An update: I successfully removed the virus from my computer after 9 long hours, but in order to do so I had to factory reset my entire laptop. I was able to save some important files, but not much. Again, stay safe you guys.

I’m really sick of seeing this negative as hell post re-blogged by more and more people who are misinterpreting sadness vs depression and yelling that nobody should go see this film when they themselves haven’t even seen it.

There are people in the world who medicate for the WRONG reasons and I’m 100% sure that is what the director, Pete Docter, is referring to. I have depression and anxiety and even I understood that.

The movie wasn’t about mental illness. It’s about struggling with your emotions yes, but it’s all very abstract and handled in a very positive way. If you haven’t seen the film and you’re angry, then you really don’t know the movie’s message and you’re Grandpa Simpson yelling at clouds.

I saw the movie just last night and from the looks of all the many comments I’ve read on this post so far, not one of you has even seen the movie yet so you’re yelling into the void for everyone to rally over a comment you’ve all misunderstood. Get off your soap boxes and sit down for a minute.

I will repeat it again for the people in the back, THE MOVIE IS NOT ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS AND IT IS NOT TARGETING PEOPLE WHO ARE MENTALLY ILL.

Sadness and depression are two different things. People who are depressed are not just sad. It’s more complicated than that and OP should know better.

Ya’ll need to chill with these knee jerk reactions.

As someone who IS medicated and who DOES have depression, there is a VAST difference between trying not to feel sadness and being unable to feel anything BUT sadness–or even nothing at all. The way I explained it to my little sister after seeing it was that depression was like there was no-one in my brain except Sadness, and sometimes she (sadness) was too tired to even help me feel that.
What my medications do isn’t remove Sadness–they bring back the other emotions.
Trying to completely remove any one emotion is wrong. And yes, stigmatizing depression is wrong–but so is avoiding appropriate emotions.
If you are taking medication because you don’t want to ever be sad, not only is it unhealthy, it won’t work unless you are constantly on a high. If you are taking medication with the goal of being able to feel all emotions, then it may be a hard battle, but it is possible–and healthy.
