Before tumblr, I used to think that headcannons were small theories based on evidence and subtle things found in the cannon. Making it plausible for them to coexist with the cannon.
What tumblr has taught me, however, is that headcannons are just wild and unevidenced claims based in absolutely nothing and sometimes outright ignoring the cannon to make it pluasible. Which seems more like it would be an AU than anything.
What tumblr has also taught me is that people will fight you to the fucking death on their headcannons, swearing up and down that they’re not only plaisible, BUT THE REAL CANNON.
Which is weird to me. like, chill they are a fictional character.

People often say to me: “You draw like some kind of inhuman machine. If I eat your brain, will I gain your power?” The answer is yes, but there is another way.
The key to precise drawing is building up muscle memory so that your arm/hand/fingers do the things you want them to do when you want them to do them. Teaching yourself to draw a straight line or to make sweet curves is just a matter of practice and there are some exercises you can do to help improve.
If you’re going to be doodling in class or during meetings anyway, why not put that time to good use?This is so important to mention to all artists. The reason PRACTISE improves drawing ability over time is it increases the literal, technical movement in your hands and arms through /muscle memory/.
THIS IS VERY GOOD, to all the people that like my lines. I do similar but less constructed doodles like these in my sketchbook all the time, it basically just teaches your hand how to move

Calling All Fanartists!
Some of you may remember the fanartist self-portrait project I helmed several years ago. It was an awesome success, as you can see above. And since I love self-portraits and fanartists so much, I’ve decided it’s time to do a reboot. While previously I invited only Supernatural artists, this year I’m opening it up to any fanartist in any fandom.
Here’s how it works:
Stop drawing Bucky Barnes and Castiel for five seconds and draw yourself! Send your portrait to me. I’ll turn us into a group portrait. BAM.
The details:
- Draw in your own style. No nudity or gore please.
- All ages and skill levels welcome.
- Make your portrait 300dpi, whether you’re drawing digitally or scanning something traditional. Transparent formats are best, but as long as you keep the background simple so it can be erased, you’ll be fine.
- To keep the group portrait looking as uniform as possible, avoid dramatic lighting or poses. Keep things simple. Draw from the waist up. Use the group portrait above as a guide for lighting, pose, colors, etc.

- If you aren’t a fanartist, and you still want to draw a self-portrait with us, of course you’re free to! Self-portraits are great practice and good for the soul. Tag your portrait #summerportraitproject so we can see you!
If there’s enough interest, I may make the final group portrait available to buy as a poster—with profits going to charity, of course, but we’ll look into that option once we get that far. (Wouldn’t a poster be rad though? Omg.)
Let’s make the portraits due June 25, 2016. That should give you plenty of time.
